If The car is registered to you alone, and is truly in your name, and you are 18, then you can report the car as a stolen vehicle.
Your dad has no right to take your car, or anything else for that matter, away from you anymore. You have every right to go to any party you want now, and he has to accept it. If he only took your keys, not the car itself, you can always call a locksmith and get a new set of keys made. But what I would do is tell your dad that if he doesn't return the keys to you, you will call the police and report the car stolen, tell the police the location of the car, report you dad as the thief, and they will find the keys in his possession. He can then be arrested for grand theft auto. Is this what he wants? I doubt it.

Can your dad take away your car?

I'm 18 and the car in under my name and everything! Just because I went to a party and came back and he takes away my car keys and leaves it in his vault. So the question is can he legally do that if I'm an adult?
I still live in his house, but I pay him rent and bills for him.
And NO I was not drunk! I dont drink or do drugs. He just doesn't like it when I go out because he says I'm going to do some thing stupid...
I forgot... he also took away my phone!

Does he pay the insurance on it? If he does then maybe, unless you're willing to take over all the payments. I would call the police & say he stole it. Did you come home drunk from the party? More info is needed for this to make a clear decision.

Legally, no.. Especially if you are the one paying it.. But if you are 18 and living under his roof then you have to listen to him.. It doesn't matter to them if 18 is considered an adult, right now, you are a kid that's being punished.

My parents always tell me "I could care less if you're 18 or 25, as long as you live here you listen to me"- even though I pay my own bills, go to school and work..

Just the VERY small price you pay if you are still living at home.

    Nope, legally it's yours.
You should let him know that.
You need to make them realize that you're an adult now.
    And get your keys back.

Maybe it's time to move out?

If worse comes to worse, then get the police involved.

    Hope this helps!
    (:

Not if it is under your name only. Call the cops and they will make him give you the keys then be prepared to move out or go get yourself a new set.

If you are living in his house and he is paying the bills, yes he can.

You're 18, the car is in your name, which is all well and good...but you live under his roof. Your dad has the right to discipline as he sees fit. Obviously parents will take away a privilege that you enjoy as to show you that you will be miserable if you don't follow the rules. So, follow his rules. When you move out, pay your own bills, and become a "real" adult, not just a technical adult, then by all means, do what you please. Until that happens, damage control. Do what the say, when they say it...and not only will you win "good child" points, you will also not lose the car privileges you love so dearly.
