I'm trying to play a video in Windows Media Player but it wont work?

When I open it in VLC player it says use Windows Media Player. And when I do, it says the file is corrupt or it doesn't support the format. What should I do?

What do you mean? VLC player will never say use Windows media player.
Source: I use it all the time to play videos that wmp can't play because it doesn't have the codecs.

It sounds to me like the file that you are attempting to play is not a video at all. If it was downloaded, then you may try downloading it again. Then again, if you got it from a share site like torrent or limewire, then someone may have put a bug in it.

Use the free NCH Video converter to change it into WMV format.
