toddler whining phase...................................?

my 19 month old just started whining..a lot...it just started a week ago...i try to get him to use his words to tell me what he wants..this works sometimes.. is this a phase and if it is , how long does it last?

welllll, forever unless you roundhouse kick them in the face. that should calm them down a bit. but, you must do it with style. the end.

It is a phase and every child grows out of it at a different time. To help with it try making him tell you what he wants. Even if you have to say repeat after me...Juice...Please. Remember he is only 19 months old and at times he may not know how to tell you what he wants. So make him repeat after you when you figure out what he wants...He will get through this phase.

Like anything you try to teach children, consistency over time is the key, and you are going to have to repeat yourself a zillion times.

Do not give in or give a response to the whining that shows your toddler that whining works to get his/her way. Make the child speak to you without whining.

How long it goes on is hard to say - but you can prolong it if you give in. Could take several months if you are lucky, and for some kids it's a personality thing that may take a few years to train out of them.

just don't give in to the whining. wait for a pause, ask him the question again and if he seems positive for a split second give him what he wants. otherwise you'll be conditioning him to think the whining is acceptable way to communicate. they are like training dogs but super intelligent ones. !

my son is 5 and still whines and whines and whines,, it kills me,,lol
depending on the kid, it can last forever, lol
but most will get better once they can talk and communicate xxxxxxxx

I'd say a few months to a year but don't take my word for it. I'm no parent
