try the harry potter series if you haven't yet or a series of unfortunate events.
If you haven't read the Twilight series you would probably like them.
When I was twelve I really liked...
The Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell
The Black Pearl by Scott O'Dell ( not the pirate movie)
Anything by John Bellairs
The Fear Street series by R.L Stine
All Anne Rice Novels
Can't really think of more off the top of my head now. It really depends on what type of books you like.
The Warriors series by Erin Hunter
Harry Potter by JK Rowling
The Chronicles of Narnia by C S Lewis
The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien
A Series of Unfortunate Events written by Daniel Handler under the pseudonym Lemony Snicket
I used to love Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome and Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Try Runemarks by Joanne Harris
Books I read and reccomend:
Hatchet (a survival story about a kid lost in the woods. Its pretty cool).
Loyd Alexanders The Book of three. The Wizard of earthsea. The Hobbit. (good fantasies)
The Leopard Dagger (a mysery set in the time of knights and swordsmen)
The Golden Goblet (historical mysery set in ancient egypt. Really interesting enaging and action-packed)
Treasure Island (it has pirates).
Ronald Dahl books (Charlie and the Cholate Factory,, The BFG, Matilda, James and the giant peach).
If you like goofy humour then PLEASE read Daniel Pinkwater. His better books are Alan mendelson the boy from mars, Lizard Music, The Snarkout boys and the avacado of death and the Snarkout boys and the baconburg horror.
The Kid in the Red Jacket. I used to love that book.
Read the book called 1984 by George Orwell
you'll see parallel to what's happening in today's world
