    Few questions about bike locks?

    Hey guys,

I've been comparing various models of bike locks and have a few questions. I've pretty much narrowed the brands down to Kryptonite and OnGuard.

Which brand do you prefer and why? I am kind of leaning towards OnGuard since the specs seem to be similar for about half the cost.

I am very confused as to if I should get a standard sized U-Lock or a mini. It seems like the mini is very small, but everyone I see online seems to like the mini's better. What do you think here?

Lastly, what is the best way to lock up the bike. I saw a popular article among cyclists that said you should put the U-Lock through the back wheel (inside the triangle) and not through the frame. This just seems odd to me!

Any help is appreciated as I had my other bike stolen..... :/

depends on how much security you need. if you have an inexpensive bike you might as well get a 30 dollar rope lock from toys r us or something. if you really do not want your bike stolen and you can afford it, AND you live in a high theft area, buy 2 locks. One u lock mini or regular and lock it around your rear wheel and frame to the post. brand doesnt really matter, i have about 5 excellent locks and they all work the same. If you can though, a lock i find good is a magnum plus rope lock. its just a super thick rope lock that protects as good as a u lock. it stretches more, so i use it to lock my rear wheel and frame, and use my u lock for the font wheel. ideally you want to lock both wheels because people can take them off very easily, and your frame. since the back wheel is attatched more to the frame, lock both together there, and the front wheel is a bonus if you have a second lock.
