I don't think anyone claims the daughters were born there. And I don't think all women in Kenya are subject to genital mutilation. I thought that was Somalia.

I don't know if Obama's father belonged to one of the tribes that practices the rite. But even if he did, it seems unlikely that Obama would embrace the tradition, or that Michelle would have permitted it to be done to her daughters.
