2002 Chrysler Sebring Coupe runs rough after timing belt change.?

My car got stopped when the timing belt broke, so I got it towed it to nearby bodyshop.
and when the mechanic changed the timing belt(+water pump), the car was running, but since the job, it's been running very rough with a bit of stalling in the beginning. (and there's a check engine sign also)

I'm afraid to drive it, and I sure don't want to take the car back to the same shop. (I think I might have overpaid it too-$720)

I would really appreciate any advise on this.
Thank you for all your help.
Just to clarify/add few more detail:
    1. I had to pay for the towing seperately.
So, yes, $720 just for the timing belt and the water pump.
    2. The engine does make a loud banging noise when it starts. (reminds somewhat of what you may hear from harleys-somewhat close, but not exactly the same)
    3. The check engine sign and brake sign(abs) came on after the repair.

If valves weren't bent when the belt broke, then the timing belt needs adjusting. They should have fixed this before turning it over to you. A compression test can reveal the presence or absence of bent valves.

You need to take it to that shop and politely insist that they either make this right or prove with a compression test that you have bent valves and it is thus not their fault.

They should graciously accomodate you. Not to do so is bullshit.
