Yamaha YZF R6 - Questions from a Noob?

I am 16, and have wanted a bike for quite a few years. Ive looked into a few and know that i can handle more then 250cc's (Kawasaki Ninja) but am not sure if i can handle a full on 600cc bike. Recently i have found a 2006 R6 for 5000 bucks, and that is right in my price range - however it is a large bike. Therefore im wondering if i take all the courses and am supper careful if it is possible to not die well riding that bike and being new. Also is there a way to tune down an engine so that the 600cc bike wouldnt rev as high. (the bike i was going to go for was the YZ6R).

These bikes are not for noobs. Check the links below to find out why. They are long, but well worth the read.

A Ninja 250 will do 100 mph and out-accelerate everything short of a Corvette C6. Isn't that fast enough for you?

The problem isn't so much you riding it carefully for the first few months. It's when you start to think you're actually good and can handle what is essentially a full-on race bike.

Find a nice upright 500 and ride it for a year or two. Then we'll talk.

First off, in some states, you have to be at least 18 to ride a bike legally. So, before even looking at bikes, make sure you check your dmv for the legal age for riding a bike.
