Are burkas an insult to Western civilisation?

You've answered the question yourself. I agree with you.
They're also an insult to deaf people as you can't lipread & an insult to law, order & authority as you can't identify the person.
They aren't even required muslim clothing. But they are suited to the middle east as protection from sun, sand & flies. They're totally unsuited to the UK as our cloudy & dull climate means that people wearing them won't get enough vitamin D, which comes mainly from exposure to the sun & so they cause some muslim women & their babies to suffer from ricketts.
In all, burkas are just a statement of intent to behave badly & insult the national hosts of the country in which muslims are guests.
