I live near Chicagoland, and it is getting bigger here, but alot of people still think of Nascar as a "redneck" sport.
We now have tracks in Chicago, Vegas, Dover, etc. I really hope one day we can lose that image...

Not as long as there are fans who throw beer cans and spit on drivers they don't like.
That's about as redneck as it gets doing crap like that.
Heck, even a 4 year old would know better!!!
I don't think it ever will. Some people say it already has but I don't agree. Everyone that doesn't like Nascar consider Nascar a "redneck" sport. I'm not going to lie, I take being called a redneck an insult, but that's just me. I love Nascar but I am nowhere near a redneck.
Nascar grew up in the south, so it will continue to be a redneck sport in my opinion. When I first met my wife, she didn't like Nascar because it was a redneck sport, but I told her I wasn't a redneck and not all Nascar fans are rednecks, and now she loves Nascar.
what about watkins glen, indianapolis, and california? i dont think nascar really has much redneck left, it doesnt matter tho its racing. nascar was started by a bunch of guys who ran liquor way back when in the south. then they started racing each other and along the way nascar was formed down on daytona beach. it will never be completetly gone and i dont think it should be completely gone, its where it started and where it came from.
It's only a redneck sport to people with narrow minds.
So what if there are tracks in Chicago, Vegas, Dover, etc.? Sounds like someone is trying to say that only southerners are rednecks. Take a look at the crowd at ANY NASCAR race. The south doesn't have a monopoly on rednecks.
