Can an exercise bike help me lose weight all over?

I have just a regular exercise bike.
It says dual action on it, but there aren't handles that go back and fourth to work the arms.
So, will an exercise bike just thin out my thighs or will it help me lose weight all over? (arms, stomach, etc.)
What are some exercise bike exercises i can do?
What are some other exercises i can do at home?

by the way, while i'm doing an hour workout on my exercise bike, is it okay to stop for a minute when my legs start to hurt?
oh, and i'm 14. 4'10, and 130 lbs

it will help your legs and butt, for arms do puch ups and chin ups, and for stomach do hollow body holds and crunches...

i lost 40lbs using an exercise bike. brilliant cardio and you can watch tv at the same time

yeah, it is, but do an hr a day, oh, and why do these spam bots always appear during our weight questions its nerve wracking

yes. Burning calories is burning calories and will help you lose weight.

However it will not give you tone or definition in the areas you are not exercising.
