know anything about the 1998 ford Taurus?

ok im in for the buying of a new car.. this one caught my eye.. b/c my grandma had one just like it.. i dont remember her haveing any problems.. but i was wondering if you had one or if u know someone that had one.. how did there's go? now i know this is normal for a car that is over 10yrs old it has 115,162 miles on it.. should i be concerned? i remember really likeing her car and its only 4,000.. but im scared to buy old cars for one and that is a lot of money if it starts to bake down. ( my last car (aka my first car) cost me 500 then i put 500 in for a new rack pinion steering) 3mon. later head gasket blew and now im car less b/c since it was so old the cost for the new head gasket and the yrs. it pro. didnt have left on it made me turn my head and look the other way *tear* so i've been in the hunt now for over a yr. and I NEED a car.. im going to college soon and need transporation so any info would help

The mileage is too high on that car for the price. Talk them down to $2000 and be ready to have a lot of repairs done in a year. That was the best Ford they built then, but that one has been used too much. If you have $4000 for a dependable car to take to college get a Corolla with less than 100k miles. You'll have it through to graduation.
