    Did you have insurance?

Did the other driver have insurance?

File a claim with the other driver's insurance, and they will pay for the totaled car and for the medical bills, as well as the cost of the pain meds.

Was there something you wanted beyond what you lost? It was an accident. Insurance will indemnify you - indemnify means make things like they were.

If you're looking for some huge payday on the heels of an unfortunate accident, it won't happen.

Get a lawyer? Uh, sure...but you should be able to talk to the insurance company on your own...

should I get a lawyer from a car accident?

My wife was hit by a 20 year old idiot who failed to yield. Her 2000 Ford Mustang was totalled. It strained her neck and back a little. I took her to the ER the following night because she was hurting. She got a couple of pain med scripts and an ex-ray which was negative. Is it worth getting a lawyer to sue the stupid 20year old, because she probably wont get much for her car. A downgrade at least. Get a lawyer?
