Pandamania, a sequel to the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities' Party Animals ('Donkeys' and Elephants) street art project featured 150 panda statues all painted in a variety of designs. The decorated panda statues were displayed on sidewalks all over the nation’s capital throughout the summer of 2004 and then auctioned off in the fall to raise money for the arts.
Research shows that the pagoda-adorned panda is "Home Rules" by artist Anne Marchand. From the look of a recent photo (2008), it appears to have a home outside the Woodley Park Metro elevator on Connecticut Avenue NW. Photos of other Pandamania works are featured below.
