Homeless relative asking for financial help to buy pampers and milk!s?

My nephew is 22 years old and has never made an effort to connect with me. He lived away and was involved in criminal activity and did some time in jail. He got is some type of trouble and moved back to NY. He calls and ask if I can western union him $20.00 for pampers and milk. I'm annoyed that he even dared to call me and ask but then I thought what if he really needs this for his baby. He is currently at a homeless shelter. I don't want this to be a habit. What would you do?

Do you have the money to give? If so then give it to him. If at anytime you feel he is taking advantage of you then stop.

I would send a gift card to somewhere he can buy those things.

I'm really sorry about your predicament ... but it sounds to me like it's a scam. I'm sure he loves you but that's just not logical. You could always mail him some diapers and powdered formula. And where's the mother? He couldn't be in a homeless shelter with a baby. CPS would see to that. Just think about it. Good luck with your problem...I hope I helped a little.

I think i would do it this one time(baby might really need it) but if he ask again just tell him your on a really tight budget and cant afford it

Sorry as horrible as this might sound. I would not be sending him money. If you are in the same city as him if you really think the baby needs it, buy it yourself.

There's like a $15 dollar fee to wire money. It's ridiculous to wire that small of an amount.

I am sure that the social workers at the homeless shelter would do their best to get the milk and the nappies. He probably just needs the money. Don't send him anything, I bet nothing of it will be for baby.
