As humdrum as it sounds and as many novels as I have read, I'm not going to reach into my bag of tricks and dig out a response from the depths of oblivion, thus forcing you, the reader, to have to research it before you can honestly answer whether or not you can agree with my choice.
Instead I'm naming an extremely popular book, mainly because I think as time spins so will it continue to be popular because it is memorable and so should be named on this list.
OK, here goes....
"Gone With the Wind" -Maragret Mitchell
I loved reading this novel mainly because I was torn in half. I hated Scarlett O'Hara. I thought she was the epitome of why women had no legal rights until the 20's. Regardless of how much I wished she would fail and starve at Tara, I secretly hoped she would prevail. As much as I needed to hear Rhett proclaim, "My dear, I don't give a damn", I also let my heart break with Scarlett's.
