Well wedded
A poem for my love, I penned,
A first for me it must be said.
Then placed it with his Christmas card
Near photograph of day we wed.
The words I wrote, escaped the veil,
Explaining what he meant to me,
In case with years, he misconstrued
My feelings, for complacency.
I watched him closely, as he scanned,
White printed page, he slowly read
As I sat waiting for response,
From jokes he stores inside his head.
But nothing came, I simply saw
A hand that trembled with surprise,
A mouth that at the corners dropped
And tears that stung his lovely eyes.
