What causes a gas leak on a 2000 Yamaha Yz 80?

When ever I switch the gas switch from on to reserve it leaks gas everywhere and pretty much when ever I move the gas switch gas leaks from under where the switch is. What do I need to do to fix this?

Your fuel selector valve has rubber "O" rings inside of it that seat into a groove machined into several places on a shaft with holes drilled into it. This comprises your your fuel selector valve. These rubber seals eventually wear out, crack, or break, & need to be replaced. It's not hard to take apart, Your local Parts Plus , NAPA parts house, or Yamaha Shop, sells various sizes of "O" rings to replace them with.
