My fiance and I would like our first dance to be to "House of the Rising Sun" by the Animals. It's pretty and slow and melodic...a good, though non-traditional, song to slow dance to.

My concern is this:

We are both agnostic, but are doing a church wedding for my family, who are traditional Catholics (they are not deeply religious, but are still faithful believers if you know what I mean). My fiance and I have no problems with the content of the song (drinking, gambling, possible prostitution) and like the idea of this being "our song," but are worried we might offend some of my family members.

My friends aren't much help, since they are atheist or agnostic and tend to be of the "if they don't like it, *f* 'em mindset.

I'd like some advice from some middle-of-the-road, raised-in but not practicing Christians (and others, too!!). If you went to a wedding where "House of the Rising Sun" was the first dance song, would you be offended?
