2004 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R 636 slower than the Newer ZX6R's?

Ok people I had some Salesman today told me My 2004 Kawasaki NINJA ZX6R 636 is a slower bike than the New ZX6R 2009-2010 models? I thought it was BS. I mean I have 636cc's not 600cc's. Can anyone answer this? Thanks a lot!

every year or two the bike is tweaked to cut weight and or give more power. So yes, a 2010 bike will be a little faster than an 04. The competition for the race class sportbikes is pretty fierce, so the manufacturers tend to make these tweaks annualy.
