Leonardo da Vinci: he was an artist, an inventor and a scientist during the Renascence.
Martin Luther King: He fought for african american rights
Hamilton Naki: The first black African doctor who made a succesful heart operation in South Africa during the apartheid.
Florence Nightingale: Pioneer nurse during WWI (think).
Mahatma Ghandi: He applied a non violent way of becoming indepent from the british colonies. Later after India became indpendent other countries followed the indepence movement.

Does your project have to be about a U.S citizen or can you choose any nationality?I always find Henry VIII and Elizabeth I interesting to do projects on :-)
