No news flash here, but with the economy in such turmoil, it's likely that raises this year will be small at best. That's why Yahoo's article on the six alternatives to a pay increase caught my attention. Their list:
  • A More Flexible Schedule
  • Wellness Benefits
  • Additional Vacation
  • Job Training Reimbursement
  • Professional/Trade Association Membership Reimbursement
  • An Additional Insurance Benefit
If I had to pick from these, I'd take either a more flexible schedule (maybe working four longer days per week and having three days off) or additional vacation time.
