How are church bells offensive?

Most likely because they are not used to hearing them. For people who have lived there for awhile, grew up there, they are a part of daily life, are expected and many probably set their watches by the bells. It's like people who move out into the country and then complain because there is farm equipment being driven on the roads or wildlife in their yards. After awhile they will get used to it and won't be bothered by the bells.
I wish we had bells here instead of a lot of trains with load horns.

I've been living in this nice, small town for a couple years and apparently someone who recently moved here is complaining about the church bells that ring at noon. They ring for about 10 to 15 seconds and are not even that loud to where most residents live at. Of course their complaint was tossed aside but I'm curious how can someone be offended by church bells?
I should add they petitioned to have them stopped, that's how I know and why I care.
