Not Doonsbury but funny kid cartoon like Buggs Bunny etc...
My choice is Handy Manny because he gets the job done, people pitch in to help him and he loves his community.

OK, my vote is for Garfield the cat. Basically because he loves food and after my last trek to the grocery store I couldn't afford to make my famous lasagna which I know Garfield would love. HE would do something to help the economy even if just to lower food prices!
