Big food at it again V. Price fixing and why we don't trust big business

Only in a very limited legal sense. And that happens because a corporations primary responsibility is to the shareholders. And in any event, there is a massive difference between accepting liability because it's cheaper and accepting guilt.

Any person that was ever incorrectly found guilty of a crime was forced to accept guilt. It doesn't mean they were guilty.

The title states comspiracy. I see no legal verbage there of conspiracy. Titles are used to get attention.

They agreed to pay for a class action suit which has a very low burden of proof.
If there were an actual conspiracy then I'm sure some governing body would press charges.

it is currently alleged. But hey let's charge the CEO with it anyway and ignore that there is a thing called limited liability in corporations.

Do you guys not understand what price fixing is, or how it works?

The idea is that there aren't options for the consumer so they can cut the supply to artificially inflate prices.

When price-fixing occurs people don't go "awe shucks, I see that I'm being scammed, what are my other options here?"

    http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/us-food-inflation-spiraling-out-of-control-91848684.html

fresh and dry vegetables up 56.1%, fresh fruits and melons up 28.8%, eggs for fresh use up 33.6%, pork up 19.1%, beef and veal up 10.7% and dairy products up 9.7%

So yes, eggs price was inflated due to "unsavory" and illegal business practices, but shit... everything went up.
