i want food stamps so bad
I'd use my presidential salary to pay for abortions for the first 800 women that wanted one.
this is why people don't understand why there are so many problems with refugee communities in the US
they get handed sec8, food stamps, aspire, etc and sponge off assistance for a DECADE before they can even speak english enough to be remotely productive for the community as a whole
Ha, that's exactly what I was thinking about, lol.
Yeah I wasn't being literal. Realistically, it's drop out of high school, knock a girl up, bounce around from shitty job to shitty job, knock a different girl up, get another shitty job, knock a different girl up, try to get into the military but can't, knock another girl up, etc...
as someone who is working for the non-profit sector and doing a evaluation of chicago's plan to end homelessness (first of it's kind)
some of you are flat out wrong. yes, the stereotypes exist to some extent, but they do everywhere. i've been to people's homes that are subsidized by agencies and they have nothing in their house (two chairs, a beat up couch with duct tape, etc.).
In doing focus groups, i've learned that even the homeless population differentiates itself between the hard working and non-hard working group, they give themselves "classes" and group themselves as those who should be able to attain help, and those who shouldn't.
furthermore, i know many of you like to blame individuals for their work attitudes, but from another study that focused on homelessness for those over 50, a interesting finding...
cliffs: chicago would go to companies and let them know that if they took on someone from the homeless population, the city would subsidize the pay (for 6 mos), assuming the person was a good worker, well trained, etc..they would continue working for companies
guess what businesses did.. hired someone for 6 mos, fire them, hire a new person for 6mos, fire them, etc.
after years of shit like that happen to you, you sort of loose faith in the system and develop "learned helplessness" and attain the "fuck it" mentality.
the fault does not simply lie with one entity (individuals, government, business, etc.)..rather a combination.
assuming the system were NOT corrupt, would you still be opposed to people receiving subsidized food?
"we've" got a $1.5 trillion dollar budget deficit
"we're" buying our own treasury securities because hardly anyone wants them
why not let some lazy fucks get some free shit? its not like our system is fucking badass and this is the one blight on it
I don't have a solution offer but I think I'm allowed to bitch.
