We aren't using Agent Orange in Iraq or Afghanistan. I don't think we use it at all anymore and haven't for a long time.

First, why should I feel guilty about what the USA did in vietnam? I acknowledge that the US undertook some very questionable, perhaps even morally incorrect act actions. Why should I feel guilt about it?

Might be to do with the notion the USA is allegedly a democracy still - at least nominally- and that what the state does, it does in the name of the people it represents.

Crazy thinking I know. One of those old guys thought the same 'government of the people, for the people . . . .'

Learning from history is a wise idea, but bearing the guilt and shame? How many generations would you suggest we visit the sins of the fathers down?

You mean a town that was blanketed in WP smoke, explosive residue, gunpowder smoke, diesel fumes and fuel, thick clouds of black smoke (from burning cars, tires, plastic, houses, buildings, metal, paint and people), lead particulate and depleted uranium may have some detrimental genetic effects?
