Juicy Bits Releases 3D Camera Studio 1.0

Juicy Bits has announced the release and immediate availability of 3D Camera Studio 1.0 for iPad, the easiest way to create your own 3D photos. Based on the popular 3D Camera app for iPhone and iPod touch, it has been completely redesigned to take full advantage of the larger iPad screen. Featuring a project gallery, a simple alignment mode, wireless image transfer, advanced export to JPS, PNS, and MPO files, and an intuitive interface, it is a powerful tool for creating 3D anaglyph, stereogram, and wigglegram images.

To create a 3D image, left and right photos are selected from the photo album. Or, if the user has the full version of 3D Camera for iPhone/iPod touch, a set of photos can be transmitted wirelessly using a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection. Next, the two images are repositioned to fix any alignment issues and to control the apparent depth of the final 3D image. Moving the right image to the right causes it to recede back into the screen, while moving it to the left causes it to "pop out." 3D Camera Studio includes "recede" and "pop out" buttons to conveniently control depth.

3D Camera Studio creates color and grey anaglyph images that are viewed using common red/cyan 3D glasses, stereogram images that are viewed without glasses (in both parallel and cross-eyed configurations), and "wigglegram" images that produce a simulated 3D effect. The final 3D photo can be copied to the pasteboard for use in other apps, saved to the photo album, or sent to a friend via e-mail. Many configurable settings are available for each mode, including four anaglyph color methods, an automatic saturation and brightness enhancement, the ability to control stereogram border sizing and alignment dots, and wigglegram animation speed.

An advanced e-mail mode can be enabled that allows the user to choose the file format of the image attachment. Common formats like JPG, PNG, and GIF are supported along with three advanced 3D formats: Stereo JPG (.JPS), Stereo PNG (.PNS), and the new Multi-Picture Format (.MPO). Context-sensitive help and tips are available at any time, making it easy for even the first-time stereographer to create high quality 3D images.

Apple Posts Fix for iOS 4 Exchange Issues
Apple has posted a configuration profile which aims to fix exchange problems noticed by customers updating to iOS 4

Symptoms
Immediately after updating to iOS 4, some users may notice that Exchange ActiveSync Mail, Contacts, or Calendars do not sync, or sync very slowly. In addition, some Exchange Server administrators may notice their servers running slowly.

Resolution
To work around this issue, users should install a configuration profile from Apple that increases the amount of time the iOS 4 device will wait for the Exchange Server to respond to its sync requests. For best results, the profile should be installed on as many iOS 4 devices at your company as possible.

Bloody Action and Adventure Game Set in NYC



Blue Wind has introduced Zombie Shock 1.0, its bloody action/horror/adventure game for the iPhone, iPad, and iPhone touch. Its 22nd app accepted to the iTunes Store, the highly detailed shooter is based on the story of a genius biochemist who has contracted the FEAR virus and must escape from NYC. He must battle zombies, get money, buy better weapons, and upgrade his status. The elaborate manga-style graphics illustrate a story line that includes 50 different scenarios, 11 kinds of zombies, and 18 unique weapons.

The first title card sets up the background: "He is a genius biologist who has created an AIDS vaccine, 'Revolution', with his brother Cain in 2010. He has won a reputation as the world's most promising biological researcher, but while working on his latest project in 2011 he was diagnosed with an unknown mental disorder, and is now under treatment in Lehason Mental Hospital." Designed for two-handed play, the left controller operates Abel's direction of movement as he runs from pursuing zombies, and the right controller operates aiming of his weapon. Tapping anywhere on the screen fires a round, as empty shells fall to the ground. The post-apocalyptic streets of New York provide the backdrop for the action, with abandoned vehicles, stores, zoos, and roadways in ruins.

Sophisticated cartoon panels introduce the action and act as interstitials, advancing the story as gameplay proceeds.

"Our game is rated 12+ for realistic violence, horror, fear, profanity, and crude humor," stated producer Jonghyun Kim. "This means we have succeeded in creating a truly realistic zombie-killer game."

iOS 4.1 Beta Fixes Inaccurate iPhone Signal Bars

The iOS 4.1 Beta which was released earlier today seems to include AT&T's formula for correctly calculating how many bars to display for a given signal strength.

With this new update, bars 1, 2 and 3 are also bit taller so they are "easier to see." The baseband, or modem firmware has also been updated to 02.07.01. Gamecenter has also been reported to be included in the new beta.

After investigating iPhone reception issues Apple said they were stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong. Our formula, in many instances, mistakenly displays 2 more bars than it should for a given signal strength. For example, we sometimes display 4 bars when we should be displaying as few as 2 bars. Users observing a drop of several bars when they grip their iPhone in a certain way are most likely in an area with very weak signal strength, but they don
