All Rental equipment used to come with a horrible sticker too.

Now in a way that one made sense but after seeing so many 2700's at Yard Sales with partial stickers, I soon realised that it made no difference to someone who would sell the thing anyway......

I'm on my third 9242. Same audio drop out problems. Very frustrating. I've given up on the HDMI connection and so far, no problems....

Another potential use for the ethernet port is large scale backup.
WesternDigital makes a 1TB backup drive that connects either with USB2, FireWire800 or Ethernet.
    So who knows?

Yep. I experience the same thing and also think it's got to be hardware related.

I think you are talking about an install using DishPro Plus equipment. This works well on the 2 9200' that I own but I recall reading that the 9242 might not support this hardware.
This should give you an idea on how it hooks up.

It has two satellite tuners, so you can record two events simultaneously, or watch one and record another.

As Tom said, you just need to hit the "format" or "*" button on remote 2 to correct the aspect ratio and eliminate the pillar-box bars on the SD stations.

Just hooked up my new 9242, I am a new subscriber to vu. I had a huge battle with the bell CSR but that's another story.

I am using the HDMI cable into an INSIGNIA 37" HDTV. I get no sound, but have been using my receiver for now.

After letting the unit sit overnight, when I turn the tv on it has a black screen and it is very difficult to get picture on the tv again.

Is this normal? This is not just on the hdmi output.

Add me to the list of 9242 owners. I just uninstalled one of my two 9200s (jump to live bug, broken frame-by-frame trick play features on PVR) and replaced it with a new 9242. I have it connected via component cables to a circa-2004 JVC 61" LCOS RPTV and Toslink optical connector to a Denon A/V receiver.

My motivation for replacing my 9200 with the 9242 is to get the trick-play PVR functions to work again. Like when I hit the "frame back" button, it doesn't jump back one and half minutes like both of my 9200s do (keep in mind, these bugs only affect the units with the Maxtor hard drive).

I did a test recording (HD Golf on ch. 817), and so far, it works fine. I rewound about two minutes behind live, and after 30 minutes it did not jump to live.

$499 + tax to get it working like it should have in the first place.
