These channels are a joke. Nothing but filler. Where's the beef?

Just checked and nothing here either on my 9200. I even did a check switch to ensure I had the latest guide info.
What possible value would there be in having the programming on either Food or HGTV in HD? The content (how to cook, how to fix your house) won't be one bit different.
This is a 16:9 source put in a 4:3 frame.
You could maybe do a full zoom to fill the screen.
When are they gonna add something GOOD. like Speed TV. or Animal Planet. or Food Network. Who cares about networks. i want good channels.
I agree. It's just Bell catering to Canadian OTA broadcasters and giving themselves an excuse to raise the price for digital basic. Adding these channels costs Bell next to nothing since they gained the extra bandwidth by switching to 8PSK, which they would need eventually anyway. I wonder if adding these "locals" ties into Bell's freesat proposal, yet another self serving move that also caters to Canadian broadcasters.
Ya, but it will be in HD. That is the value!

Golf HD was in free preview? Aw i missed it then :/
Anyways, nice additions to free HD, all welcome =P
Wow, what a waste of new channels. If anything, hopefully they are broadcasted in 8PSK so we can see if there is any difference in quality. I wonder where these would go on the guide, or is there going to be another reshuffle.
Anyways, why they're a waste:
CBC Montreal HD - will only show the same programming as CBC Toronto HD. Only differences will be news and the occasional SD widescreen game on HNIC
CTV Calgary HD - besides local news, this will basically be the same programming as CTV Vancouver HD at the same time, no timeshift
Global Calgary HD - same as above
SunTV - do they even show anything in HD besides the NBA during the season?
SRC Ottawa
TV5 HD - can't really comment on these two, don't watch french channels. I would assume SRC Ottawa would be showing the same as SRC Montreal.
I agree about removing the SD stations, that is just a waste of space (which they don't have alot of) to carry 2 feeds of the same channel?! I don't see why they can't just down convert the HD feed to SD for those that don't have HD instead of carrying both SD & HD- this is technically possible I believe. Personally I say everytime a channel launches an HD feed they should discontinue the SD feed.
Regarding the HD channels, why is it that there are more French HD channels then English?! You just had another two launch- Evasion HD & TV5 HD. Where are the english specialties like Food Network, HGTV, Space, Comedy- I thought specialty channels were raking in the dough so why don't they want to launch any HD feeds of these supposed 'successful' services?! Compared to the US, Canadian broadcasters are a sorry, pathetic bunch riding the regulation coat tails of the CRTC. Almost ALL US specialty channels (including some Spanish) are now broadcasting in HD, in Canada the French specialties lead the way
