    8PSK Conversion

    They are uplinking:
    BELL1 (1003) = HD PPV (copy of 834)
    BELL2 (1004) = Rush HD (copy of 811)
    BELL3 (1005) = Oasis HD (copy of 810)
    BELL4 (1006)
I'm pretty sure they are 8PSK; but still not available to us, regular users.
So, it looks like 4 channels per transponder; wonder if the quality will be better?

    8PSK Conversion

So I'm starting to wonder when this switch to 8PSK is supposed to occur. I thought the letter people received stated starting April 1. Well now it's April 15 and nothing has switched yet. By the time they get around to doing this, they will be getting ready to switch to MPEG 4.

Bell cannot go over to MPEG4 until all HD subscribers with the 6100 & 9200 models have their receivers swapped out. Just imagine the outcry if they switch to MPEG4 and these customers screens go blank.....

2 years yet, in my opinion.

To back up Lindsay649, I also feel that Bell's HD PQ has improved in the past week. Whether that is due to 8PSK or something else I can't say but all HD channels seem to have a more stable (for want of a better word) picture. Some of the HD movies on the four High Fidelity channels have been outstanding as has Merlin on both NBC and CTV. (I'm referring to PQ of course. This sword and sorcery program is nothing to get excited about).

Nope, the Eastern Arc requires VIP receivers, which are all MPEG4 HD (capable). With the price of the 6131 at $199, I doubt that Dish will produce anymore SD only receivers. The future is HD!

Do you think the 8PSK conversion will have any effect on NBCHD and CBSHD. Both look horrible at the moment.

I think before MPEG4 we will have more space anyways cause Nimiq 5 will be up the the air and functional.
