    Bell Full HD tour

There were a large number of Bell Staff all wearing the obligatory Bell Jacket and Baseball cap, around 50 or so of them I believe plus the Management from Bell, another 15 to 20. Add into this another 20 Media Personel and a handfull of the Public and that was it for the people viewing.

    Oh, and Hugh and I.....lol

Be careful Nimiq, I hope the CIA boys didnt follow you home, or plant a tracking device in the Skittles
So they could not answer your questions, or ignored you?
    Was it a "no comment"
I'm picturing you with a Frank and Gordon T-shirt on, jamming hand fulls of Skittles into your mouth, waving your hand like a 5th grader when they would ask if anyone had any more questions, and after looking at you, and by you 4-5 times, still with your hand up, they would say, "Since there are no more questions people, we would like to thank you for coming out"

Press release issued by Bell ExpressVu today.

Do you suppose it will announced new MPEG4 receivers?

    Yawn
Will I get a discount, seeing as Bell has been providing me with less than full HD?
I was paying for Full HD!
I would love to be at this release/Bell is great circle pat on the back-a-thon to mention that I have some questions to pose, after doing some research of my own at a little site called DHC...
I did notice a sign on the DVP saying something about Bell is the only one that offers Real HD, or something along those lines
If someone remembers what it says, could they refresh my memory?

You got more Skittles! Thats not fair!

I said to a guy I was with that, if Bell had of been smart, they would have canceled the stunt girl and guys in black and used the money to serve Hot coffee to the crowd!

They never had a "media presentation" where you could ask questions. Was Shannon even there?

    Directv's new receiver is mpeg4 and it's not 1080p.

What I read into this is that they are bleeding a bit and the firestorm of hatred towards them from savvy DHC readers has caught up with them and even if they wanted to advertise on DHC again, they would only expose potential subs to the truth about them.

Hugh, I think you should go and handout leaflets directing attendees to DHC so they can filter the hype and get to the God's honest truth.

How much does a few thousand leaflets and a plane to drop them cost anyways?

While they may think the timing is good as sales slump to all time lows, it's probably the worst possible time as any new subs 2 year contracts will be expiring and many if not most that fell for it will be choosing other providers about the time the new and costly birds and MPEG4 launch.

So while industry analysts have given Bev an 18 month lifespan, I'll be a little more generous and say 24 months from this Christmas.

I think I asked all those questions after the "climax" of the event.

No Comment was the reply on, MPEG4 receivers, 8PSK, 72.5 degree location.

As for 1080p, no-one is broadcasting at this resolution to my knowledge and I doubt very much that Express Vu will.....

December is when MPEG4 "capable" receivers will be available, or slightly sooner but they will only be decoding MPEG2 data-streams until the time Express Vu are ready with Nimiq 5 and even then the change over will take months, even years.

I believe that using the term "Full HD" like this could backfire on Bell because from what I read almost all the TV Manufacturers are using it to describe 1080p, which is NOT what Express Vu are broadcasting, they don't even broadcast too much in 1080i, its mostly 720p.
