I'm freshly 16 years old and I'm dating a freshly 18 year old. We are two years, two months, and twelve days apart. His birthday is April 11th and mine is June 23rd. My parents are okay with me dating him and whatnot, but his parents are worried that my parents might get upset with him and turn him in for statutory rape and sue at some point in time. I wrote an incredibly detailed term paper last semester on statutory rape and the rule was, "if said 'victim' is within two years of age of the 'offender', you are legally allowed to engage in consensual sex". I'd just like to get all my facts together before trying to convince them that everything is okay, and even if my parents DID try to sue him, they wouldn't be able to because the "two year" rule applies to us. I'd just like to make sure my argument is valid. Do those 72 days REALLY matter in the eyes of the judicial system?
