Consumer data plans for Rogers BlackBerry users?

I was talking with someone I know and he has heard that Rogers will be releasing a consumer data plan instead of just the corporate ones they have now... This would be in time for the new BlackBerry Pearl around October. Has anyone else heard this? Is there talk of prices yet?

Their wrong. About the only thing Robbers is good for is raising prices... $40-1MB, $60-25MB or $100-200MB sadly that's as good as it gets and right in line with Bell and Telus.

And there really is no distinction between "corporate" and "personal" data. All plans are the same and include everything. And that's for BB or non-BB.

I realise that the US carriers seem to have this tiered pricing system, which I really don't understand at all.

The internal news I am reading has a huge push on improving customer service and customer retention.

The big number portability date is March 14. The last thing the Rogers wants (or Bell or Telus) is increased churn after this date.

Plus, the market will likely become a bit more competetive in pricing in order to retain customers.

The carrier's pricing structure is based largely on what RIM charges them for the BlackBerry service plus a bit on top. In order for the carriers to create pricing structures aimed more at consumer usage (so that, for example, the Pearl is a viable alternative to a Nokia or a Samsung) they'd need to create new pricing bands.

Which they have. How much the carriers add to them or if the carrier uses them is entirely up to the carriers though.

I got my plan almost a year ago from Bell, so I got unlimited data (really unlimited, no cap) for only $55.00. Guess I got lucky and got my plan just in time!
