Other way around.
Download and install the latest Desktop Manager, if you haven't already. You can get 4.5 directly from the BlackBerry web site.
Download and install the device OS.
Delete the vendor.xml file.
thanks guys, that is alot to read. i really dont want to mess up my phone so thats all im scared about. i see different things tho, some say to delete the file first then do the install, other say download, connect and update then delete..im confused..lol..
I didn't wipe my phone or remove my media card or any of that. Basically, I would back up the phone, uninstall the current version of OS from your p-c, download the new version to your p-c, delete the vendor file and install it to your phone. (You shouldn't have any problem with DM recognizing and installing a new OS.)
Be patient. It only to me 30 minutes but some have taken as much as 1 1 /2 hours I think. Sometimes it looks like nothing is happening but leave it alone and let it run!
Reserve a little time for testing/installing any 3d party applications. For example, if you use BB Smart for email, don't install if for 4.5. You may have to try a new theme. The T-Mobile theme that I was using omitted my BB messenger icon. I changed to Dimension L. You may have some lost contacts but they can be restored. All that info is available - that's why I recommended reading up on the upgrade in the thread I referred to previously.
You should be fine. Good luck and post back results here or in one of the 4.5 threads for help.
OK, fixed the problem with google talk, a simple battery pull did it.
4.5 works great on my curve. (T-Mobile)
This is where I ran into a problem with the overall install. Updating the DM from 4.3 to 4.5 got an error message regarding the ROXIO Media manager. I had ROXIO software installed independant of DM and I think this may have caused the problem.
Did anyone else encounter this problem? I don't have Roxio media manager option on DM now.
I was able to use DM 4.5 to update OS on 8320 and it went as planned. So far OS is great.
I think there are problems with media manager on 4.5 - References here. That's one of the reasons I went back to DM 4.3. Hope it helps.
only problem i had so far is that vlingo stopped working
Good points on the media manager stuff.
You have the option when you download DM to include the media manager or not. I downloaded the DM without it so as to avoid those issues.
Ok I just ran the 4.5 official update for Orange on my TMO 8320 and everything appears to be functioning.. However, I notice under Media, Pictures, Preloaded Pictures, noting is listed. Is this how it's supposed to be, or is there something I forgot to included during the upgrade?
