"DIY MODS" and TRICKS to SAVE $$$$$$

I read through all 55 pages last night, and I am pretty impressed with the DIY attitude that's evident. Not everybody is afraid to drill a hole somewhere on their bike, or install an accessory that doesn't have the official bar and shield logo.

Today it was raining like a cow pi$$ing on a flat rock, so, inspired by last night's reading, I decided it was time to tackle the garage door opener mod. I've got a Craftsman (rebadged Genie) garage door opener with the 12 volt remotes. I couldn't be happier with the results. I used double sided tape to attach the remote to the top of the stereo. I hard wired the remote, so I don't have to worry about changing batteries. I used a odometer reset button for my momentary switch, it looks like the factory put it there. Having read the process about a gazilllion times last night made it feel like I had actually done the mod before, and it all went very smoothly, even reinstalling the outer fairing.

I was going to do the Radio Shack siren mod tomorrow, but it looks like sunshine, so that'll have to wait for the next rainy day.

I'm glad my idea helped you. After using mine for a little while now I am VERY happy with the results.
This is something I feel the factory should have put in all of them. I didn't use the acc plug because I already have the being used for something else.

    Great job. Yours looks great.

"DIY MODS" and TRICKS to SAVE $$$$$$

This thread is awesome!! I've already planned out 5-6 DIY quickies & I haven't even picked up my new Street Glide yet. First up will be garage door opener through high beam switch. Oh I'm ordering the J&M speakers Monday & I'll have them before my ride is done getting the engine modifications....I'm gonna miss my Deuce (it's a rocket) but it's time for a big boy bike.

only mod from og plan for me was to use the og cover that protects the factory plug drilled very small hole in the end of it and ran the wires thru tied them in a knot together so they wont pull back thru the hole. plugged the wires straight into the holes the tangs are supposed to slide into. the radio shack part had soldered ends they fit snug. slide the cover back on looks like factory installed which dont matter for shit cuz no ones ever gonna see it.
6 bux I'm gettin another one to put under the fairing cap too.

"DIY MODS" and TRICKS to SAVE $$$$$$

I always check this thread looking for good ideas but it's kind of turned into a Garage Door Opener & Siren thread. Hopefully we can move on. Although it does keep the thread alive.
Come on guys, lets hear your ideas. Saw a post yesterday about a tool made to use when your ignition lock is removed. Pretty clever, should have been posted here.
