From a CBR 250 to 848/1098/1098S wise move?

my 848 destroys the 03 gixxer 600 I used to ride in every aspect short of how comfy the seat is....lol

The two bikes look exactly the same. (848 and 1098)

You have the right mindset and I would imagine that the deals Ducati has going for the 1098 are world wide since the "new" bike is on its way. You could probably get a base 1098 for close money to a 848.

stewy999, nothing on my post says that the gixxer's power can be compared of that of an 848, even said its a night and day difference...anyway, its still the op's decision on which duc he'll get... but just givin' some insights here

Thanks guys, interesting that they both look the same, I have to admit for me the look of the 1098 is one of it's main appeals. I am really driving myself crazy trying to decide. Socalrider you have the 848 is it a real a thrill?

One2Gamble, when you say new are you referring to the 1098R????

Im refering to the supposed 1198cc powerplant in some of the more main stream bikes below the "r" though possibly not in the base. Ducati hasnt really stated anything but thats what the internet seems to think.

compared to the gixxer 600...way way different..torque wise, sound wise and looks wise.. more so with the 250. if there is a better contrast than black and white that would be it. just riding it feels you're in a higher level. well, i guess owning a ducati feels that way no matter what the model is. but bottom line, the 848 is great!

    Hey Stewy,

If it's not to late I'd like to throw in the 1098 Dry clutch factor, it's a bitch to street ride with. Don't get me wrong I love the look of the open cover, the noise and the way I can just hammer it up to speed, but around town it lurches, grabs and is like a hair trigger. Also the gearing is really high, so the bike lurches something fierce below 50 km/h, although I bet a different sprocket would cure most of that. It's not bad for me because most of my riding is at retard speeds on deserted backroads and I only have to suffer the few lights coming into town to gloat at the coffee shop usually. Just something to consider.
