haven't ridden an 1198s, but my 1098r shits all over my 1098s. My opinion would be get the R not taking money into the equation....being in aus its hard to comment on your bike market
$8000 for Ti rods and cans. Humm???
I have not riden eather btw. Wish I have! I also know threr is much more than just Ti rods. Like the shock and swing arm. I dont know much ealse?
also ttx, slipper, loads of carbon, more hp and torque, limited number, ti valves
sand cast cases..
4 kilograms lighter.....i'd say we just spent 8 grand
True dat.
Depends on what you want and how much you want to pay ultimately.
Stock exhaust on the 1198 ? Full exhaust on the R ?
The R will handle getting thrashed (motor wise) better than the S because of all the better bits.
You could also have a none too shabby 1198S with $8k of extras.
I'd go the R personally.
money to blow: 1098R
if you dont need the extras: 1198S
hmmmmm......yes ...I keep going around and around.....8K buys a lot if I wanna play w/1198S....but also get a lot if it matters to the buyer with the R....including both exhausts/ttx/carbon/motor internals/etc. Id say this would be about a 70/30 or even 60/40 split between track days and street...hopefully I can get to track days that often....so of course emotionally I lean towards the 1098R.....logically do I need alll the goodies likely beyond my skill set (i am near 50 and havent been on a road course (track) since the 90's)
Thanks for input!
