BELLEFONTE, Centre County — A 27-year-old man known as Victim 7 expanded Wednesday on his previous, pre-trial testimony, telling the jury in Jerry Sandusky's child abuse case that the former Penn State coach touched his penis under his pants and bear-hugged him in a shower.Last year before a grand jury, the man said that he had only a "blurry memory" of contact with Sandusky in the shower, and that he had touched him under his pants but did not feel his penis.
Defense attorney Joe Amendola asked the accuser why these stories were never mentioned until after he had retained an attorney.
Victim 7, who met Sandusky through The Second Mile charity, said counseling has helped him, and memories have been coming back to him since his grand jury testimony in April 2011.
"I can remember a lot more detail that I had pushed aside," Victim 7 said.
Under cross-examination, he said he thinks he may know some of the other accusers in the case. When asked about a specific accuser, he said he had talked to him a few days ago and they have had vague discussions about Sandusky in the past.
Victim 7, who was 10 when he first started going to Penn State football games with Sandusky, said physical contact started when Sandusky would reach over and squeeze his leg while driving. He said Sandusky would squeeze so hard he would nearly cry out in pain. Sandusky would sometimes put his hand up the boys shorts and once put his hand under his belt and inside his pants.
The man began going to football games with Sandusky in 1995 and continued to get tickets from him until 2009. Sandusky gave him tickets to every home football game from 1996 to 2000, he said. He told the jury he continued to get tickets to some games from Sandusky until 2009. He would spend time with Sandusky at about two-thirds of the games, he testified.
When Victim 7 was a boy, he would stay at Sandusky's home the night before the games. He testified Sandusky would come into the bedroom and wrap his arms around him from behind. He still remembers Sandusky's chest hair pressing against his back, he said.
"To this day, I'm sort of repulsed by chest hair," Victim 7 said.
On at least five occasions, Victim 7 showered with Sandusky in the East Area Locker Rooms on Penn State's campus, he testified. Sandusky would try to wash him, but Victim 7 said he would pull away. Once, Sandusky bear-hugged Victim 7 from behind, pressing his midsection against the boy.
The man told the jury Sandusky's actions made him feel uncomfortable, though he never told anyone.
"I didn't want my parents to keep me from going to games," Victim 7 said. "I knew it didn't feel right. It felt like something they would get mad about."
Sometime in 1997, Sandusky stopped contacting the accuser to stay over at his house and attend other activities. He said it seemed like Sandusky had favorites and figured he must have done something wrong.
Amendola presented The Second Mile scholarship applications in which Victim 7 described Sandusky as a "kind and caring gentlemen."
Earlier in the morning, the man prosecutors call Victim 10 testified Wednesday morning that Sandusky threatened to keep him from his family if he ever talked about what the former Penn State coach had done to him.
Now 25, Victim 10 said Sandusky first approached him in the pool at a summer camp in 1998, cultivated a friendship with trips to football games before eventually assaulting him in the basement of his Centre County home. Pulling down the boy's gym shorts, Sandusky forced oral sex, Victim 10 testified.
It was the first of several encounters, he said, visibly nervous and rarely speaking more than a few words at a time. Once Sandusky grew angry after the boy refused to perform oral sex in a car, the accuser testified.
The threats culminated in a confrontation.
