In 2005, the two reached an exclusive agreement, Apple is to migrate to x86 seamlessly, and will use Intel processors for five consecutive years.

This agreement let Apple become an x86 company, which makes it obtain decent interoperability with Wintel, and don't need to wait for ARM camp to launch the processor appropriate for Apple, also meets the performance Apple's high-end products requires.

Allegedly, Apple and Intel's 5 year agreement comes to an end, the rumors said that Apple will use AMD processors to match the Macbook Air. Steve Jobs has been an Intel fan all the time, but he also talked about it among the biographies that Intel chips are very good, but Intel innovation pace can not keep up with Apple's needs.

To Intel's slow innovation pace, Apple has never offered very good help. Apple worried that if it starts to give Intel innovative ideas, Intel is likely to take them to share with those partners. Apple tip: convert mkv to ipad. The Ultrabook which is strikingly similar to the MacBook is a proof.

If Apple cooperates with AMD, and even acquires AMD, will not only abandon the Wintel, not to mention to obtain the abundant intellectual property and patent portfolio from AMD, and inherit, add freely or modify its own x86 designs to get different functions.

Importantly, if Apple is interested in acquiring AMD, the regulators may not be too excited. Helpful resource: convert video to ipad on mac. That would be very interesting, considering that Apple was always close to ATI and AMD owns ATI now it would make sense for them to join forces.
However Apple as a chipmaker... I would think twice about buying next macbook.
