Why do all mp3 ringtones, whether free or purchased, sound so crappy compared to...

...the ones that came on my fone? I have run into this more than once. The phone I'm currently using is a samsung behold. The mp3 ringtones that came with the phone sound crisp, clear, and loud. So why is it that when I purchase an mp3 ringtone from t-mobile, or download a free one from phonezoo, it sounds so bad? It sounds metallic, I think. Not nearly as loud. What's the diff? Are there any sites that offer crisp, clear sounding mp3 ringtones?
I know I did ask a secondary question about any good sites for quality ringtones. But can someone please answer my main question?
