Bell with CTV (and ROGERS to some extent) are trying to 'bury' free HD/TV before it catches on, check out the OTA (Over The Air forum)

From my knowledge Bell is lacking:

    The Score HD
    SUNTV HD
    OMNI 1 HD
    OMNI 2 HD

    Few French HD channels.

New subscriber as of yesterday ... I have searched but cannot for the life of me, find Sportnet HD. Can anyone tell me what channel # it is? BTW, I am on the HD Extra All-in-One pkg.

    Thanks in advance.

They will switch the receivers first. It would be a huge undertaking for SD. Not so bad for HD, at least not yet. They could also do things like Dish, put all new HD MPEG4 channels on a separate satellite and tell people to buy a new receiver if they want them. There will be a new EV sat going up at 72.5 in a couple of years.

To answer Bailey's question about capacity, there is no hard limit to satelite or channel capacity. All they do is keep on cramming in more channels, by compressing more and reducing picture quality, till we all start complaining.
Who complains louder, the people who want more (useless) channels, or the people who want picture quality.
Yes, they and we'd all like to go to mpeg4, but look at the logistics of doing that; duplicate all programming in Mpeg4 while we all trade in our recievers over a couple of years? I'm pretty sure there is a whole slew of people looking for better ways to make that changover.
Bell has a new satelite coming.... stay tuned.

Yeah, what is with BEV's thing with free preview HD channels.

I sub to the $10 pack and have to call in for A&E HD.

And soon we'll have to call in for Rush and Equater, and HDnet (isn't that free preview).

Will TSNHD require a call in after there 2 week free preview?

    What is the purpose?

I have a hunch its to freeze people who are on grand-fathered packages so they have to upgrade their plans.

any idea if we have to add Rush and Equator, or if we automatically get them with the HD package once the free previews end?

i think you have to add the HD $10 pack in order to get ANY HD channels...i don't think you will get any of them if you don't add the package...if you want to "try" them, why not simply put the $10 package on for a month and try them...if you don't like them, you can always remove it after a month...i can assure you once you go HD, you won't go back.
