Is it wrong that this is giving me some hope for Keanu as Spike?

Highly unlikely, though it's a shame. They apparently finished dubbing the friggin' thing too (with the English voice cast from the anime), which is the real kicker.

Something just occured to me.... if this movie makes it to the theaters, and performs well, do you think there's a chance of the Cowboy Bebop videogame for the PS2 coming to America?

'Cause, if thats the side effect, I would'nt care if tehy made the movie a friggin romantic comedy.

Retelling the origin isn't really necessary. In fact, retelling anything from the anime series isn't really necessary either. I don't understand why that's done whenever they convert a property from any other format to a U. S. American movie. Sure, some merabers of the moviegoing audience will not have familiarity with the characters. That's fine! Lots of movies don't have the characters explaining how they got to where they are before moving on. Sure, some of them do, but they keep it to a few paragraphs of narration at the beginning.

There are plenty of new situations the crew of the BeBop could fall into, provided there is some consistency with their past there is no limit. It just shows a total lack of creativity to start over from the beginning.

I've been wanting a live-action Bebop for some time, and worRAB cannot express my disappoint at Keanu Reeves playing Spike. Keanu mostly gives dull, deadpan preformances and not to mention, looks NOTHING like the character.

Spike is a humorous, carefree guy with a serious side. I don't think Keanu could pull it off.

Secondly, they are trying to adapt both episode 1 and episode 26 in one movie!? WHAT. The way I see it is.

Movie 1: Movie begins at the ending of Asteroid Blues, showing Spike in the middle of a battle to get a bounty. AfterwarRAB, things cool down and we get to meet Spike and Jet. Use the Honky Tonk Women storyline too, becuase given how popular Faye is, (I don't really care for her myself. She's a 1-dimensional character designed only for sex appeal and nothing more.) she is nessecary to be in the film, but mix it with Ballad by having Vicious somehow involved with the casino guy, (The casino guy would not play a very large role) mixing the two storylines together. Movie enRAB in the Church just like Ballad, vision of Julia, some setup for a sequel.

Movie 2: Brief references to Black Dog Serenade and My Funny Valentine, to offer more insight into the pasts of Jet and Faye, but those are not the main storylines explored. Mostly follows Jupiter Jazz.

Movie 3: Hard Luck Woman, Real Folk Blues.

    But that's just me.

I dunno. Ed might would have to wait for a second movie but they might could squeeze Faye in. Her introduction wasn't really as detailed as Ed's.

If they do the movie based on the first episode, it would only be Spike and Jet mainly I believe, correct..? No Ein or Ed, so I don't know why there's talk about that in here.

Personally, I hope they just go the way of the Animated movie and make it an original story. For me, Bebop has been at it's best when it is showing us a group of different people forced together through odd circumstances, fighting for money and their lives. The Viscious/Julia stuff was actually the weaker half, IMO.

Also, I've never much liked the first episode, either.
