uh no, the wii does "look" 480i. too bad i won't be able to score any component cables for the wii for awhile, cause it really needs all the help it can get. even then 720p games on my ps2 still looks better (shadow of the colossus....) then fast forward one year later when DECENT titles release for ps3, (and most likely a gears of war 2 for 360) wii fun and innovation blah blah, ya sure, but once the novelty wears off im still gonna cringe everytime i go from my ps3/360 to these updated gamecube gfx games with even more 15 year old games to download? no thanks. i as much fun as drunken wii sports is it will stay a distant third in the console wars

360 = PC in a litle white box only with less options to consider. A full year head start, plus the dev-kit time before it's launch.

PS3 = Yet another entirely new platform from Sony for developers. It will take some getting used to but in probably a few months, not even as long as this time next year, you will start seeing some better games for the PS3 and it will gain a good bit of ground catching up to the 360. The launch was quite shitty, but not much shittier than the 360's launch.

Wii = Nintendo followed the good ol' k.i.s.s. acronym on this one. Not hugely technical or graphically powerful, but the most fun and innovative console available, as well as the cheapest. Could easily be a winning combination. Unfortunately just as easily as the novelty could wear off.

The PS3 has a lead on the 360 in the hardware department, but falls behind in terms of how easy it is to develop and optimize games for the console.
On a side note: Gears of war is not the best looking game because of the hardware, it is because of the engine behind the game (which has been in development probably since before the 360 was even a concept). Damned shame more people can't realize that.

You can probably count on PS3 having titles above that quality a year from now. (360 too, they will likely eventually end up about even, especially with so many developers releasing the same titles on both consoles.

right now i have xbox 360, ps2, and a wii.

I dont think i will buy a ps3 until next year when good games come out and price is lower. A lot of people are going to do the same also probably.

I played the PS3 today at EBX. I was suprise by the graphics for MotorStorm, but for basketball is was a disappointment. I can see though in this system that there's a huge potential that needs to be unleashed. Just give it some more time and it'll be good to go. It's experiencing the same symptoms as 360 launch that's all. Just be patient

I noticed this as well. I am used to playing FPS with high polygon numbers on comps that dont suffer from the frame rate problems I saw on the PS3.

Not quite true. Developers have been working on PS3 devkits almost as long as developers have on 360. Remember, PS3 was originally supposed to come out early this year.

And with the PS3 coming out a year later than 360, while costing $200 more, you would think it should handily beat the 360 in graphics. But so far, the 360 is owning the PS3 in that department, in both multiplatform games as well as originals (Gears of War destroys everything out on the PS3 visually).

Many developers in the past year have said the 360 is equal to the PS3 in power, and is easier to get good results out of. The fact is, PS3 isn't better than the 360 horsepower wise. 360 is a very well designed machine, while PS3 is overly complicated, and a bit underwhelming in its design.

not really. the PS3 has just come out while the 360's been out for awhile so devs know how to work with it.

The 360 version of COD3 looks much better than the PS3 version. The PS3 version suffers from inconsistent framerates, poorer textures, and jaggies.

COD3 on 360 looks stunning. You should check it out to see how much better it looks over the PS3 version.

Its funny how every single game out for both 360 and PS3 looks better on the 360, with many looking substantially better (COD3, Tony Hawk Project 8, NFS: Carbon, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, NBA 2K7, etc.). Wasn't PS3 supposed to be superior graphically?
