A few questions from an honors history assignment on the electing of 1876?

    2. What were the components of the Compromise of 1877? What governmental groups and individuals were involved, etc? Be sure to include all relevant facts from the texts above, including who was involved, what was agreed upon, where this event took place, the results of the event, etc.
    3. Why do you think the Compromise of 1877 is also known as the Corrupt Bargain? What could be considered corrupt about it?
    4. Compare and contrast Hayes and Tilden, including their political backgrounds and their views on the results of the election.
    6. What results did Hayes's election have on Reconstruction? What was the impact on blacks in the South?
    9. Look at Tilden's criticism of the process in his concession speech. Do you agree or disagree with his opinion and why? Be sure to list at least three specific reasons from the reading.
