The consumption of fish is by far the most significant source of ingestion-related mercury exposure in humans, although plants and livestock also contain mercury due to bioaccumulation of mercury from soil, water and atmosphere, and due to biomagnification by ingesting other mercury-containing organisms. Exposure to mercury can occur from breathing contaminated air, or from improper use or disposal of mercury and mercury-containing objects, for example, after spills of elemental mercury or improper disposal of fluorescent light bulbs.

The mob used to poison enemies slowly by putting mercury in the light bulbs of a victims home. Mercury would slowly diffuse into the immediate environment and build up so gradually most people would think they were simply having a run of increasingly bad health (before of course it took their life). Change your light bulbs. Have a look at this information:

It's probably fish or the water he drinks.

Themometers have a lot of mercury, but I doubt your friend drank it. It's a possibility that someone is poisoning him, but unlikely. It could be in fish. A long time ago, Shi Huang Di(China's 1st emperor) kept drinking mercury because it was said that the powers it possessed were to make a human immortal. Of course that not true, it actually killed him! I'm sure there are plenty of ways the mercury could have entered his body.

fish is often poisoned with mercury. a lot of fish caught from the ocean or polluted waters are high in mercury. if your friend eats a lot of fish, this may be the cause

Mercury builds up in your system. Some fish have mercury in them if he eats a lot of fish that are caught by himself or someone else (not from the store) That will make his level rise. Also older thermometers have mercury in them. Mercury can even be absorbed through the skin.

He may be eating alot of fish. Fish that swim in polluted waters (everywhere on earth now) soak up the pollution. When people eat them, they get the pollution also. Look up a list of fish online and it will give you the mercury contents. If he is eating alot of it, he may need to drastically cut back.
