TMNT "Mayhem From Mutant Island" Talkback (Spoilers)

Just a guess on my part, but I think it was an attempt to pretty-up the series for a futile attempt at getting a DVD release. Shortly after "Wedding Bells and Bytes" premiered, someone mentioned seeing it on their On-Demand service (ComCast offers free showings of 4kids reruns), and a 4kids rep verified its existance immediately afterward.

Why would they bother redoing the intro for a series that ended it's run?

TMNT "Mayhem From Mutant Island" Talkback (Spoilers)

It appears the title sequence and credits were the only additions, but there were additional 'minor' cuts. A second or two was ommitted between segments to give a more continuous appearance. And, yes, it had the redone intro. That was actually the first time I had seen it though it had reportedly been seen on reruns of the wedding ep.

TMNT "Mayhem From Mutant Island" Talkback (Spoilers)

This was just edited together and aired as a "new" episode. And for some reason they changed the shows intro.

TMNT "Mayhem From Mutant Island" Talkback (Spoilers)

As I have said before, there are people, including myself, who liked watching The Batman. Besides, a show lasting for 52-65 is a pretty good run. That's nothing to ignore considering most shows are lucky if they get that far in these days.

As both Blackstar and Silverstar have mentioned quite well here, I don't think you have to watch a reboot if you don't want to. I can understand your feelings, but I don't agree with having only one definitive series for TMNT. A reboot is chance to get some money out of the franchise, obviously, but it is also a chance for other people to have their own interpretations of the characters. There is no universal understanding of superhero characters, including those from TMNT, since the comics themselves are often rebooted. If the idea of a possible reboot bothers you so much, then I do think it would be better overall for you to just be content with the series you're already happy with.

For the really small episodes, they're nice and all, but I do wish that the chapters weren't so short. It feels really odd when most of them end with the turtles not doing that much outside of getting new weapons or having a really short fight scene. I know the general point was to make them this short, but it doesn't feel like they've done that much to me for some reason.

TMNT "Mayhem From Mutant Island" Talkback (Spoilers)

Once again, no one is forcing you to watch anything. Just because someone makes another reboot, that doesn't mean that you have to watch it. You can change the channel anytime that you want.

You just don't want the 2K3 TMNT series to come to an end, just like you don't want the DCAU to ever end, but it has, and like it or not, you have to accept it. It's always the same thing; you find 1 thing to glom on to, and then you convince yourself that this 1 thing is the one and only difinitive take on said franchise, and you absolutely refuse to accept anything other than that 1 take on it. I truly feel for fans like you, who can't accept anything that's even slightly different than what they're used to. I didn't like every take on Superman that I've ever seen, but I'm at least open minded enough to experience a different take on the franchise before I decide that it's bad just because it's not the one version that I really liked.

TMNT "Mayhem From Mutant Island" Talkback (Spoilers)

Um, "the past?" TMNT 2k3 just ended 2 months ago. In fact its technically not over until the DTV comes out in August. I just don't see the point of doing a reboot when the current TMNT just ended and still has a DTV coming.

If it's a good new idea, then sure they can go for it. If its another re-boot rehashing the same Shredder war again, then why not just continue from what has already been done? 4kids still holds the license for the animation, so we have to see if they drop it in the first place.

It effects me because I am concerned as to how the TMNT property is handled. I don't want to see any more mistakes like the Saban "Next Mutation" series which had Venus, the female Turtle. And I have this fear that the next TMNT cartoon is going to be something like The Batman, where everything is simplified and the show lasts only 52-65 eps.

The 4kids version started off as the TMNT comics in animated form, albeit somewhat toned down for Saturday mornings. What can a third TMNT cartoon do differently?

TMNT "Mayhem From Mutant Island" Talkback (Spoilers)

That doesn't mean that a studio can't or shouldn't be allowed to do one if they so choose. It's not your time, money or effort going into them, so why do you care?

So if someone has an idea for a new TMNT series in say, a year or 2 years from now, which isn't a continuation of the 4Kids version or even affiliated with 4Kids in any way, then even if Peter Laird approves of it, they should just put it on hold for another 15 years just because CyberCubed can't bear the thought of another reboot and refuses let go of the 2K3 version? Again, your logic is flawless.

You lost me at "It's not like the old days", since it basically translates to "I can't let go of the past".

See above. A new TMNT series couldn't, wouldn't and shouldn't affect you in any way; just don't watch it if it's not to your liking. I'm really not trying to sound like a jerk, but it's laughable how you expect everything on TV to fall into your narrow-minded, xenophobic way of thinking. Lots of people wouldn't mind or even care whether a new TMNT show was connected to the 4Kids version or not. If it's good and it entertains me, I for one wouldn't care one iota if it were a sequel to the 2K3 cartoon or not. I'd only care if it wasn't good. 4Kids shouldn't have to keep producing TMNT nonstop and no one else be permitted to pick up the mantle just because you're unable to let the 2K3 version go.
