I bought a boost mobile phone from someone and i put my sim card in now it says enter unlock code?

and i have no idea what it could be and the person i got it from doesnt know either and i have tried to
enter 0000 and 1234 but those are not working is there another default code that can help...Please help i broke old phone and can't afford another one. What can i do to keep this phone. I have no info about the phone either. I really need help
the phone is a boost mobile i425 if that helps
@Steve N the Sim is from a phone that just broke. the new phone that i got had no sim and when i put mine it it said Enter Unlock Code, i tried putting default codes in but they do not work. I have no idea of the persons name who had it before me i bought it from a friend of a friend so i have no details and i need a phone for work and cannot afford anything else. Is there a way i can get this one to work.
