Trying to remember a movie it's a thriller?

I can only remember what I think was the beginning of the movie. Two criminals are leaving a hotel in an area that looks like it was shot in west Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, etc. They are about to leave the motel but before they leave they step in to the office in the front and they either kill the owners or for the first time as the audience we see that the owners are dead. I also think that the owners daughter or child might have witnessed the entire thing but I am not entirely sure. I also just remember There is a refrigerator that you might sell pop in in the office. I also can remember that one of the two guys is a little bit of a wild-card, he is kind of crazy and unpredictable ( I think he does the killing ). The other guy is the brains of the two as far as I can remember.
Again the movie is an action thriller movie as far as I can remember, its kinda like No Country for old men, or Se7en.
I know this is very vague and a lot of guessing, but will appreciate any help!
