Is it legal that my husband bought a gun without my approval?

My husband and I had a lot of debates over whether we can have a gun in the house. I have a very strong opinion on NOT ALLOWED any gun in the house and I made it very clear to my husband that I don't want him to buy a gun.
Today I was cleaning up the garage and found that he purchased a gun and stored it in the garage behind my back. I am furious about this.
For one, I don't feel safe with gun in the house.
Also, I wonder if it is at all OK that a gun is purchased without the spouse's approval. I literally felt I am threaten by the presence of this gun, and I wanted to report it.

Does anyone know is it OK to report the gun ownership because I don't feel safe with a gun in my house, and more importantly, this gun is purchased without consulting me at first.
